Description

This is technically Mass Effect fan art, although admittedly it's probably not that obvious from looking at it.

I note that the galaxy map entry for Terra Nova is somewhat different from its appearance in-game. The galaxy map describes it as being "banded" with an equatorial desert, presumably in light of its rather-high average temperature (56°C). However, the planet you see above during 'Bring Down the Sky' doesn't seem to have any such surface feature.

The in-game scenery is pretty, and I have no objections to it from an artistic PoV, but I thought it might be interesting to draw a background-consistent version of the planet. So that's what we have above.

I've sometimes considered the possibility of a planet like this. I'd imagine an earth-like planet that spun really fast during formation might have bulged outwards at the equator enough to have the land elevation much higher there than nearer the poles, so any oceans that formed would have pooled at the lower extremes in the polar regions instead :nod:
