Let's be honest ... the real reason that I'm not keen on the magenta T-dwarf idea isn't much to do with the science. It's more due to the fact that I've never managed to draw a magenta 'brown' dwarf that didn't look absolutely sucky.

Sadly, this object is no real exception.

By the way, it's meant to be that squashed. Brown dwarfs supposedly have rotation periods of only a few hours, so they would be quite oblate, I suppose. (Jupiter is a similar case in our own solar system - the equatorial bulge is quite distinct, even in a small telescope.)

Edit: also, I just noticed an odd optical illusion. The galactic star field makes the T-dwarf look a bit diamond-shaped. It's actually not at all - the shape is a smooth ellipse! Weird...
